Diplomate of Acupuncture
From the NCCAOM
A practitioner who holds a diplomate of Acupuncture or Oriental Medicine is a practitioner certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). Being a diplomate demonstrates that a practitioner abides by the NCCAOM Code of Ethics and has met national standards for safety and competence.
Competency is achieved through comprehensive training in traditional differential diagnosis and proper treatment methods, and the NCCAOM requires its diplomates to have completed three to four years of education at a master's degree level in an Oriental Medicine Program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM). Furthermore, diplomates must demonstrate professional competency by passing NCCAOM certification examinations in Foundations of Oriental Medicine, Acupuncture with Point Location, Chinese Herbology, and Biomedicine.
For more information, visit the NCCAOM's website.
